Lentigo and freckle elimination with INTERmedic aesthetic lasers
A high percentage of the population suffers from different kinds of pigmentation problems, caused for example by sun exposure, aging, or congenital conditions.
Using INTERmedic's aesthetic laser systems, freckles or brown sun and age spots (lentigo) are reduced by about 80% in the treated area in a single session.
The former is possible since the diode laser energy is most effectively absorbed by the high concentration of melanin in freckles or brown spots. The patient should, of course, take care not to expose unprotected skin to the sun prior to and for some time after treatment.

The principle involved:
Light energy penetrates the tissue and destroys the entire follicle and hair bulb without harming adjacent tissue structures. This is possible because the energy is effectively absorbed by the pigments (melanin) of the hair shafts. The absorbed energy is now effective as heat which in turn deactivates the capacity of follicles and bulbs to produce hair. To reliably stop reactivation of the hair its re-growth cycle needs to be considered. Optimal results are achieved after several treatment sessions. The number of sessions needed depends on the individual hair color and phase of growth.

If larger areas are being treated, the safe and effective Contact Skin Cooling™ system allows the skin to be cooled down before, during and after each laser energy application. Camouflage make-up or covering garments are common means of concealing problems such as these, but certainly do not provide a satisfactory solution. Disturbing skin alterations such as molluscum, verrucae (warts), seborrheic keratosis or pigmented lesions are not regarded as serious threats to health in most cases. Unfortunately, however, they are most likely to appear exactly where the patient least likes them - on the face.
